Thank you for reading The Gargoyle – my newsletter on authenticity, creativity, and curiosity. I’m happy to share this short poem below, inspired by a bird I saw hopping up a flight of steps.
“Staircases” (Text Only)
“Staircases” by Rian Casey Cork As for good places to slip away When your heart has been shattered Like pottery hurled from a ledge – I am hardly the right person to ask. Yet if you insist, I will reply: Begin by finding a quiet staircase. One you know, or one you don’t. Glass, metal, stone, wood – all will do. Ascend. Descend. Sit halfway. Let long afternoon wash over you, and Watch the shadows of sparrow wings Ripple o’er the walls above your head. Rest. Then gather what clay pieces you can, And let this flight guide you into tomorrow.
End
Thank you as always for reading! Hope you have a great week.
